Job Description

Our client, a leading multinational car dealership company in Lagos has requested our expertise in the recruitment of Business Development and Sales Director.

Job Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales target and expand customer base
  • Analyse market trends and client cues/needs to identify opportunities to develop and strengthen business relationship
  • In charge of all company marketing, business development and sales activities and personnel. Coordinate and manage the corporate marketing team by developing sales strategies to improve company’s marketing and sales performance
  • Keep good relationship with past, existing, potential and new customers (car dealers and corporate) to explore new opportunities
  • Sales of cars to dealers and corporate clientele (not individual car buyers)
  • Manage and review annual business development plans and budgets as needed. Lead the team to successfully execute business plan within defined scope, timeline and budget.
  • Recommend improved strategies, introduce new marketing campaigns, make decisions that drive sales growth in a bid to expand market reach
  • Support operations planning by assessing marketing and sales operations; making long term operation decisions regarding business development and corporate strategy
  • Coordinate market research, identify potential partnerships, recommend opportunities to enhance sales and open new markets in a bid to optimize sales
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of business plan, sales strategy and public/client relations strategy in order to analyse and provide necessary recommendation
  • Develop proposals and presentations to company management team to highlight business or marketing opportunities or the introduction of new strategies


  • Must have a minimum of 10 years progressive Business Development experience in a senior role. With at least 5 years cognate experience in corporate car dealership, automobile sales etc.
  • Must have a Masters degree from an accredited university or school of study
  • Must have a proven track record of successful sales in past work experiences
  • Must be able to build a portfolio of credible client base
  • Must possess vast networking strategies
  • Should possess relevant professional certifications
  • Must have a keen eye for market trends and client needs
  • Expert at negotiation
  • Demonstrable expertise in strategic leadership, client relations and team building
  • Should be able to target the capability gap in business development
  • Must be willing and able to travel when necessary
