UN SDG Action Campaign – MY World 360° Media Competition 2020

The global COVID-19 health crisis is affecting people across the planet and across all facets of life, from jobs to access to education, basic services and family life. It’s also highlighting the importance of solidarity and how our individual actions have an impact in our communities and on the lives of people all over the planet, shaping the world we live in. Through immersive storytelling we can bring everyone closer together and inspire actions that have a positive impact for people and for the planet and create a common vision for a better world.

Since 2018, MY World 360˚ creators around the world have used immersive storytelling to share what is going on in their communities and to inspire action on the Sustainable Development Goals, a global call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. From climate action reporting to stories of local innovation and resilience, participants shine a spotlight on issues most relevant to them and their communities, by using new and emerging multimedia formats.

For this new cycle of MY World 360°, we invite creators of all ages, globally and in all languages, to share how they themselves, or people in their community, are making a difference in the face of COVID-19, and how these actions bring us closer to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Share with us your vision for the world you want to see after COVID19, a world where the Goals are achieved.

We recognize that many people are restricted to move freely in the effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, we are expanding the call to all types of immersive media and encourage virtual team work and co-creation across borders to harness the world’s collective creativity and ideas.

How can you participate?

Submit your media through www.myworld360.org and share tagging @SDGAction and @DigitalPromise and using #MYWorld360

  • Creative use of media and technology: How are you combining tools and techniques in a unique way to convey a message or tell a story?
  • #TogetherAlone: How might you connect virtually with someone to share ideas and perspectives, or to co-create something?

Mixed Media (Audio, Photography, Video, Animation and Design)

Combine audio, photography, video, animation, or design to tell a story or share creative work. Storytelling and design have the power to educate and inspire people. Consider these questions as you think about what you want to create and how you want to capture people’s attention and engage them in meaningful ways.

  • Who are you creating for?
  • What is the impact you want your project to have?
  • How do you want them to experience it?

Your media could take any form, from narrative to documentary to experimental. The only requirement is that it relates to taking care of each other and the world we live in, and that you connect it back to one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Sample Audio, Photography, Video, Animation and Design Apps and Tools

  • Adobe – Multimedia and creativity tools, including Adobe Fresco for digital drawing and painting, Adobe Spark for easily creating social media content in just a few steps, Adobe Premiere Rush for quickly creating, editing, and sharing online videos

Creating for interactive design projects is often referred to as “experience prototyping.” As you think about what experience you want to create, the questions below might be helpful to consider.

  • What is your story concept or idea?
  • Who are you designing it for?
  • Why should it be interactive?
  • What is the impact you want it to have?

Your interactive design could take any form, from an interactive game to an immersive virtual world, and should relate to one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals.
